How to get there

The High Mountains of Kyrgyzstan Tour goes through Issyk-Kul region and the Central Tien Shan. Start and finish: Bishkek. Border permit: required (processing included). The tour start can be reached by flight, train, or car.

Main route highlights: Karakol, Sary-Jaz Valley, Enilchek Glacier area, northern shore of Issyk-Kul (Cholpon-Ata), and Bishkek. The route passes through remote high-mountain areas with glacier panoramas and views of the highest peaks of Kyrgyzstan.

Tour format — expedition: long transfers, off-road driving in the mountains (4×4), basic camps, and tent accommodation in high-mountain zones. The tour is designed for experienced travelers with good physical condition. Private transport is provided for the entire route, including the border zone, as part of the individual tour.

Daily Itinerary

Day 1. Bishkek → Karakol

  • Route: Bishkek – Karakol
  • Distance: ~400 km
  • Travel time: 7–8 hours

Transfer to Issyk-Kul. Accommodation and rest after the drive.

Overnight: Karakol

Day 2. Karakol → Sary-Jaz

  • Route: Karakol – Sary-Jaz
  • Distance: ~180 km
  • Travel time: 6–7 hours (off-road)

Departure to the high-mountain zone. Enter the wild Sary-Jaz Valley.

Overnight: Sary-Jaz (tents / basic camp)


Day 3. Sary-Jaz

  • Distance: ~30–50 km

Adaptation and walks. Glacier and Tien Shan peak panoramas.

Overnight: Sary-Jaz


Day 4. Sary-Jaz → Enilchek

  • Route: Sary-Jaz – Enilchek

  • Travel time: 5–6 hours

Transfer to the Enilchek Glacier area. Accommodation in the base camp.

Day 5. Enilchek

Glacier area walks, photography, rest, mountain panoramas.

Second full day in the glacier area. Optional light trekking routes.

Day 7. Enilchek → Karakol
